The
New Jersey State Bar Association
outstanding programming for Annual Meeting 2007 features Newark
Mayor Cory Booker, US Attorney Chris Christie, United States EEOC Chairwoman Naomi Earp and New York Times reporter
Lisa Belkin. The annual States of the Judiciaries reports will
be delivered by NJ Supreme Court Chief Justice James R. Zazzali
and US District Court Chief Judge Garrett E. Brown Jr. A program
sponsored by the Pipeline Diversity Task Force will include a
book signing with Lauren Stiller Rikleen, Esq. author of
Ending the Gauntlet: Removing Barriers to Women's Success in the
Law.
This year the New Jersey State Bar
Association Annual Meeting is being held at the
Borgata Hotel
Casino & Spa from May 16 – 18. Be there on Wednesday, May 16 at
2 p.m. when the conference officially kicks off with the Opening
Business Session and presentation of the NJSBA Annual Pro
Bono Award as well as the Service to the Community, Service
to the Bar and Professional Achievement awards of the Young
Lawyers Division. Additional programs are offered on Wednesday,
including a Section Summit for future section leaders, dispute
resolution and family law programs, and a State Bar and Bar
Foundation cosponsored program on the impact of the Supreme
Court decision in L.W. vs. Toms River. Wednesday’s
activities culminate with the Welcome Reception and Buffet
Dinner in the evening.
Thursday will feature a full day of
educational programming sponsored by NJSBA sections, committees,
the Young Lawyers Division and various outside groups with CLE
credit from the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. The
Annual Dinner and Installation of Officers on Thursday evening
will showcase the installation of incoming NJSBA President Lynn
Fontaine Newsome. This gala affair will also feature the
presentation of the Young Lawyer of the Year Award.
Friday programming will begin with Chief
Justice Zazzali and Chief Judge Brown delivering their States of
the Judiciaries reports. This distinguished event will be
followed by the Fifth Annual Bench Bar Conference with members
of the New Jersey judiciary represented among the panelists, and
additional programs from the Labor and Employment, Bankruptcy
and Workers’ Compensation Sections.
During the three-day Annual Meeting, New
Jersey Network’s Due Process will be taping two segments
in the Exhibit Hall. Due Process is funded by a major
grant from the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.
