The Independence Chapter
of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) was founded by Ellen Freedman
and Patricia Sierzant, and chartered with its first 11 members in February,
1992. The impressive calendar of events for the first year included two
seminars, a vendor seminar and reception, quarterly educational chapter
meetings, and monthly brown bag lunch idea exchanges. The chapter's first
newsletter, published just two months following its charter, won an association
(ALA) award for excellence, and has continued to win awards for excellence each
year of publication. Chapter membership now exceeds 60 members in Pennsylvania.
